Classic Symmetry
The client for this house values the classical shingle style made popular by the rise of the New England school of architecture. The interior aesthetic was to be current and fresh with a mid-century sensibility, all as a clean backdrop for the client’s modern art. The client’s architect, John Doer, preserved the home’s layout and proportions, but designed new details, such as a streamlined, conical shape to the stair rail pickets. The living room alcove showcases a French 40’s game table, and other pieces are designed with cues from Robsjohn-Gibbings. The furniture is a mix of languages, including banquettes inspired by John Saladino’s work, with tailored lines and a color palette focused on a fresh pop of ivory or white in each room along with orange, yellow, red, ivory, and brown accents.
