IN THE NEWS: SFC&G SPENDS AN AFTERNOON CHEZ WISEMAN

The Wiseman Group continues to get attention for its newly published book, Inner Spaces: Paul Vincent Wiseman & The Wiseman Group, showcasing the firm's thirty-five years of design work. In their September 2014 publication, SFC&G spends the afternoon with Paul Wiseman and his partner Richard Snyder while they entertain lunch guests at their Belvedere Island home. Paul is an excellent chef and makes a gourmet lunch prepared with high-quality ingredients from the Marin County farmers market. Guests are served on the loggia, with its world-class views over the San Francisco Bay. SFC&G does a wonderful job capturing this pleasurable experience!

At a recent awards ceremony hosted by the Northern California Chapter of the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art, The Wiseman Group was given a Julia Morgan Award for their work in interior design. The awards, named for nationally renowned Bay Area architect and classicist Julia Morgan, seek to recognize and laud contemporary excellence in the classical tradition of design. Some of the Bay Area's most creative architects, designers, artisans, and craftsmen as well as local students and patrons were honored at the ceremony, which was held at the beautiful Carolands Chateau in Hillsborough. According to the ICAA's Northern California website, "it is the goal of the Chapter that through continued exposure and recognition, these awards will laud practitioners for their work and educate both laymen and professionals about the enduring excellence, appeal and importance of the classical traditions in design and those who contribute to its advancement."

INNER SPACES BOOK: PAUL GOLDBERGER WRITES A FOREWORD

The Wiseman Group is proud to announce that, in addition to an Inner Spaces foreword written by architect Frank O. Gehry, the book will also include a foreword by esteemed architecture critic Paul Goldberger. Given TWG's goal of working seamlessly with the architecture of their projects, it is fitting that these two giants of the architectural world weigh in so enthusiastically on the firm's work.

Mr. Goldberger has an impressive biography. He lays claim to publishing in The New York Times, The New Yorker, and Vanity Fair -- a triple crown for talented writers. He is the author of several books, most recently Why Architecture Matters, published in 2009 by Yale University Press; Building Up and Tearing Down: Reflections on the Age of Architecture, a collection of his architecture essays published in 2009 by Monacelli Press, and Christo and Jeanne-Claude, published in 2010 by Taschen. He is now at work on a full-length biography of Frank Gehry, to be published by Alfred A. Knopf in 2015.

Welcome aboard, Mr. Goldberger!
